Good bye and good riddance, Bill Gates

So Bill Gates is finally calling it quits and walking away from his full-time gig at the Monopoly.  Too bad it couldn’t have happened a couple of decades earlier, before he turned the IT waters into his own personal toilet bowl, soiling and staining the image and reputation of what could have been an honest profession. Perry faults Obama on energy

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Texas gov warns that Obama’s energy policies “would be a return to the 1970s energy crisis and ‘the malaise of Jimmy Carter.’” Spoken just like the duplicitous whore of the oil industry and big business that Texas Republicans in general and slick Pretty Boy Perry in particular are and is. There will be no justice in Guantanamo Bay

The stage — I mean that literally in this case — is being set for what will hopefully be the last major charade of the Bush/Cheney era. It will all be about Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other senior Al Queda operatives being brought to justice before a military tribunal in Guantanamo Bay. As if that were possible. (more…)

Candorville: Beware the assassination

I’ve been a fan of Darrin Bell’s Candorville for a year or two now. He uses his sharp wit and gentle humor to create an insightful comic strip. But lately Candorville’s theme has been anything but humorous: the danger of the assassination of Barack Obama. (more…)

The Texas Two-Step

It’s time to take the Texas Two-Step out of politics and put it back on the dance floor, where it belongs. This horribly misbegotten creation of the Democratic Party in Texas represents all that is wrong with old-school politics and politicos. (more…)

Tennessee steals a game from Rutgers

There was a great game of basketball played last night between two great teams: Rutgers and Tennessee. Unfortunately, there was a felony committed at the end of the game which resulted in the wrong team being awarded the victory. (more…)

Does the Limbaugh meltdown mean the end of hate radio?

I did something I never do any more last week, as I was driving into town. I tuned into the Mush Limbo — aka Rush Limbaugh — hatecast on WOAI AM in San Antonio. (more…)

Remembering the Pueblo: 40 years ago today

Can it really have been 40 years now since the Pueblo was captured? It seems like it was only last week as we all gathered around to read the CRITIC just dispatched by Lloyd Bucher regarding the North Korean soldiers who had just boarded his ship and jabbed him in the ass with a bayonet to get him off the radio. That was a dark, humiliating day for the U.S., and especially for its overly proud Naval service. But worse days lay ahead. (more…)
